Aims and Committees

The aim of our association is to provide advise and support to vet nurses/assistants, promote our profession to the general public, promote and provide lifelong learning and elevate professional skills and standard.

Our Executive Committee members will continue to arrange CPD workshops and exchange events for our members. I hope our members will enjoy participating our events, and new members are very welcomed.

Geraldine Kwok
Geraldine started working in small animal practice since 2002. She completed the Cert IV Veterinary Nursing in the Animal Industries Resource Centre Australia. She is the Senior Veterinary Nurse in Ocean Park. This job has given her a solid veterinary nursing skills and experience to carry on her career path. She is also an instructor of the Higher Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at the Open University of Hong Kong and the Pet First Aid course instructor in the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance. She enjoys working and teaching in the Veterinary field. Especially in Ocean Park has given her great opportunity to work with many different animal species, chances to use high-end medical equipments and attend international veterinary conferences and workshops. She joined the HKVNA as a committee member since 2013. She was responsible to coordinate CPD activities and veterinary workshops. She is now the President of the HKVNA and believes continue education will bring up the veterinary nursing standard in Hong Kong.

Vice President/Acting President
Vincent Tang
Vincent have been working in Veterinary Nursing industry over 10 years, he is now working in Equine Hospital at The Hong Kong Jockey Club. He is holding a Cert IV Veterinary Nursing and Cert IV Training and Assessment qualifications recognized in Australia. And he has special interested in Medical Informatics Technology. He has joined HKVNA as committee since 2012, learns from the past and overseas to plan the development for HKVNA. He hopes HKVNA can gather Hong Kong veterinary nurses and assistants together and develop a better future for Hong Kong Veterinary Nursing industry.

Cherry Chan 
Cherry work at Heung Wo Animal Medical Centre as a Practice Manager. She holds a degree of BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Royal Veterinary College of the University of London. The 4 years of study include veterinary theory and practical skills. Cherry joined HKVNA as a CPD sub-committee in 2014 and vice President as well as Secretary in 2015 and 2016. She will use her knowledge to assist Geraldine to develop the industry of veterinary nursing. She also wants to improve the quality of veterinary nurses/assistants. She aims for advocate the code of conduct so to increase the professionalism of veterinary nurses/assistants and register all veterinary nurses/assistants by regulations. Cherry love all animals especially cats. She raise 4 cats at home now.

Treasurer + Membership
Noira Chan
Noira has a special interest in exotic animal and wildlife. She been worked in KFBG since 2002 till 2012. Prior to the vet industry Noira worked with animals such as crocodiles, reptilians, primates and avians. She joined Heung Wo Exotic Veterinary Centre, Tsuen Wan started end 2012. She decided late in life she needed a career change, she keen to work towards her Certificate II & IV in the future to continue her career in the veterinary industry. Noira practice include intensive care animals, surgery and wildlife, particularly reptile and rodents. She joined HKVNA as committee since 2012 and as a Tresurerer from 2013. She loves her work and takes great satisfaction out of being able to help pets owners and their pets. Noira enjoys spending quality time with her family and pets and loves travelling exploring new places in overseas.

Joey Heung

Joey Heung has been working in Ocean Park for 5 years. She started as a Marine Mammal Trainer and currently as a Veterinary Assistant. She graduated from University of Queensland and has a  great interest in Marine Biology. She has joined HKVNA as a committee 2  years ago and has been working on the continuing professional development for veterinary nurses and assistants. She
hopes that HKVNA can help Hong Kong veterinary  nurses and assistants to develop a structural program for their continuing professional development.

Steven Ma

Steven Ma Steven has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2011. He is now one of the veterinary technicians in Ocean Park. He completed the Cert II Animal Study in the Animal Industrial Resource Centre in 2013 and will continue his study in Cert IV this year. Steven joined HKVNA as a committee of Continue Professional Development this year. He hopes that by joining HKVNA could assist to provide professional training opportunities for the nurses in the industry and increase the awareness of animal welfare to public.

Rocky Sham

Rocky Sham has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2004. He was one of the three founders of HKVNA.

He completed his AIRC Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse and workplace assessor through Australia. He is also an UK-Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Rocky would like to increase the number of member in HKVNA , it can ensure that Veterinary Nursing in HK has strong representative body and help HKVNA provide benefit , support and promotion for our members.


Andy Lin

Hello, My name is Andy. I worked in KFBG as an animal keeper from 2011 to 2016 and joined Heung Wo Exotic Veterinary Centre as a veterinary assistant in 2016. I finished my AIRC cert 2 in 2017. I am interested in animal behaviour and environmental enrichment. I want to share my knowledge and experience to our members and increase the awareness of the animal welfare.

Joseph Au
Joseph Au has been working in the veterinary industry since the year 2000, and joined us in 2011. During all this time,  he has worked with many vets, and different types of animals, where he gained all the experiences and knowledges from.
Joseph has finished his Certficate IV in Veterinary Nursing and became a Qualified Veterinary Nurse through Australia in recent year. And working his way through in the registration of veterinary nurse in UK.
He is a current registered member of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, holder of Certificate in BLS/ALS through American College of Emergency and Critical Care, in which emergency and critical care interests him the most. 
He has also recently completed the broad certified ECG course in human medicine in paramedic field through American Broad of Cardiovascular Medicine that allows to offer more in veterinary patient care. 
Continue professional development also become parts of his routine, he truly believes that by continuing education so he could give the best of him to both the industry as well as pets' owner.

Lee Kwok Shing
Hello! I’m Shing, I’m a Veterinary Clinical Technician of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. I have been working in the industry for four years, and I received my Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV in 2013. 
I’m one of the editing sub-committee member of the HKVNA last year, my duty is editing of our website and newsletter. I love photography; you may have seen me taking photos during workshops or conferences.
